Description
Heavy metals (here Zinc and Cadmium) can be measured using Flame Atomic Absorption Spectrometry (FAAS).
This method is applicable for the determination of Zinc and Cadmium in Plantation White Sugar (PWS).
After collaborative testing in 2014, the method was Officially adopted in 2016.
For Cadmium, the absolute difference between two results obtained under repeatability conditions should be not greater than 0.024 mg/kg, the absolute difference between two results obtained under reproducibility conditions should be not greater than 0.116 mg/kg.
For Zinc, the absolute difference between two results obtained under repeatability conditions should be not greater than 0.058 mg/kg, the absolute difference between two results obtained under reproducibility conditions should be not greater than 0.201 mg/kg.
Precision data are determined and valid only for PWS with mass fractions of Cadmium in the range of 0.07 mg/kg to 0.64 mg/kg and of Zinc in the range of 0.14 mg/kg to 1.12 mg/kg.
