Description

This method is suitable to determine the sulphated ash content of brown sugars, juice, syrups and molasses.

The sulphated ash is determined gravimetrically after incineration and the result obtained is the sum of both water-soluble and water-insoluble ash.

For molasses with an average ash content of 11.57 g/100 g the absolute difference between two results obtained under repeatability conditions should not be greater than 0.45 g/100 g and under reproducibility conditions not greater than 0.84 g/100 g.
